Bourne & Co - Accountants for Life

On Sunday 20th June it was our sponsored football team's home tournament: Belvedere Park.

The day dawned bright and sunny - in complete contrast to last year when the heavens opened and the torrential rain poured down for the whole afternoon - and the team were in good spirits.

The under 9's tournament consisted of a straight league with whichever team won most points taking the winners trophy.

There were 7 games played over the course of the morning and our first game was against our fellow club members Belvedere Park Red. We won convincingly 2-0.

The next six games passed and our team remained unbeaten having won a further 4 and drawn 2 - only conceding 1 goal.

The league was finished and we couldn't believe it when it was neck and neck at the top: Winshill Gold having the same number of points; goals for; goals against and consequently, the same goal difference.

A play-off was necessary to determine the overall winners. We had not beaten Winshill Gold all season so our team was anxious.

The play-off result at full time was 0-0 which meant PENALTIES!!

The pressure got to Winshill Gold as they took their first penalty and missed! Our players took their turns and scored every one - meaning that Belvedere Park under 9's Blue had won the tournament!
