Team Wathall launch charity bike ride

Feb 6, 2012

At the end of April 2012 six members of G Wathall & Son Limited's staff are planning to cycle over 400 miles from Derby to Paris in support of the Laura Centre Derby.

The Laura Centre Derby Appeal was recently launched to try and raise £150,000 to enable the charity to establish a base in the Derby area. The Laura Centre was orignally set up in Leicester by Gail and Harry Moore following the death of their daughter Laura at the age of 5, in January 1989. The Charity provides dedicated, highly specialist bereavement counselling and support when a child dies or is bereaved.

Over the years the charity has gained national recognition for its cutting edge approach and clinical excellence in the field of family bereavement.

The charity is now hoping to be able to offer such support to the city of Derby and its surrounding areas by establishing The Laura Centre Derby.

First Rider Sponsor Announced

Bourne & Co are proud and honored to have been the first to sponsor a rider in The Team Wathall Charity Event.

Michaela Edwards is wholly supportive of the Team's challenge and quite rightly so as her husband, Paul Edwards, Finance Director of G Wathall & Son Ltd, is one of the riders.

"I have every faith in Paul and the rest of the team that they will be successful in this challenge - although it is a daunting one! At Bourne & Co we are very pleased to be associated with this excellent cause and hope The Laura Centre Derby can be established. Losing a child must be one of the worst things that can happen to any parent and losing a parent when you are a child yourself must be equally as bad.

Could I please urge everyone to visit the just giving page and make a donation - no matter how small.
I wish them safe and well on their mammoth journey and hope they manage to enjoy it! Myself, our boys and other riders families are looking forward to cheering them on as they arrive under The Eiffel Tower on May 4th."
